THORNE PRINCESS BY LJ SHEN

Arc in exchange for an honest review.

This story really did intrigue me when the tropes were shown as well as the synopsis and sneak peek. Not only is the cover pretty - but I really did enjoy the whole premise of this story. It felt very fresh and new for LJ and I loved that it was a little bit different.

Hallie was a stand-out character to me, I loved her personality, I loved her past, I loved her reactions, and I loved her as a whole. I think she's a very empowering character and I love how she took control of the story and really made it her own. She was the stand-out character who kept me hooked. Her relationships and developments across the length of the novel were so beautiful to see.

Ransom was an enigma, not only because of the name but because of how he was as a whole. In the beginning, I had no clue how he was ever going to thaw. Across the length of the novel, we learn in small increments more and more about him that just evolve his character before the reader's eyes.

The plot kept me hooked, but I love the character-driven element and that's what had me continuing to read. Hallie and Ransom were electric and had so much chemistry. I loved how good they were for one another, but also how complex too. This was realistic in a way and not all about happily ever afters.

There was something a little bit missing plot-wise, which is why I couldn't give it 5 stars, but the characters made it up and they were the plot. This was a great standalone and I can't wait to see what LJ writes next!

Check out this book when it comes out on January 12th!
