BE MY BRAYSHAW BY MEAGAN BRANDY
ONE WORD - PERFECTION!
I have been waiting and waiting for this book to come out for a while now and it's easily my most anticipated book, I had to hold off reading the finale of Raven and Maddoc's story - just so I wasn't eagerly anticipated this one for too long! After that Victoria epilogue I was instantly hooked - as expected. I read this book as soon as it came out and now I need to blog about how great it was! I even immediately bought the paperback!
No regrets, I stayed up until 5am to read this! It had everything I wanted! Some people didn't agree with me and are quite disappointed by it. But it had such a real element behind Captain and Victoria's actions and Victoria easily became my favourite character when she was first introduced, I couldn't not love it when we delved into her character more.
Victoria, as a character, was everything I wanted and more. I was not expecting her to be such an integral piece in the Brayshaw's life. But she was. In the end, she was the glue that held them all together. She was the Brayshaw behind the Brayshaw, the boys wouldn't be where they are without them and I LOVED that Brandy made Victoria so important. Because she is. Also, she is such a QUEEN. That bat scene will forever be one of my favourites, she's so badass in her own way and I love when she takes something for herself rather than being selfless like she normally is.
Now, Captain, bless my little Captain. Honestly, it's a struggle being a teenage dad and I have upmost respect for him - which is why I understand why is was so apprehensive about Victoria coming into their lives. Because they now had Zoey to protect and Raven is pregnant. He's still so young trying to struggle and find himself, whilst having so much thrust upon him. I loved his scenes with Zoey those were so cute. You could easily tell that he yearned and needed Victoria just as much, it just took him a while to see.
Onto the relationships. My favourite surprising friendship was actually Victoria and Royce. The way he called her VicVee was so cute. They just really surprised me and I hope we get to see more of their friendship in Royce's book - since it seems that Victoria has figured out his secret, because she's that badass. I also ADORED Victoria and Zoey's relationship, I am desperate for Zoey to call Victoria mama just once - it needs to happen, she basically is I mean she raised her and everything. The little nicknames in this book were so cute, I'm so happy Victoria was called Beauty (as she should) Sleeping Beauty was my favourite Disney film!
Finally, yes everyone says she has finished her boring rant, please bare with me I just love this book so much. The plot of the book, I loved it a lot. I feel we as readers, along with the Brayshaws are trying to break through all of Victoria's secrets in order to get to the truth of her integral part. I was SHOCKED by her childhood. I wish it was focused on a bit more how badly she was treated and I wish she got more respect for all she has been to. She basically had no identity for so many years of her life. It was heart-breaking and I'm glad Victoria turned out as selfless, beautiful and strong person that she was in this book.
I cannot wait to read Royce's book, I need those Victoria and Victoria/Captain breadcrumbs. I also super excited to read from Royce's perspective and see him settle down I'm sure it's going to be interesting. Everyone PLEASE READ BE MY BRAYSHAW, give it a chance honestly and have an open mind. Please share my love for Victoria, my queen and Victoria/Captain as the couple they are. Such a deserved 5 stars and my favourite book of all time really!
